Painted Turtle-a video short

While doing the evening cast for some mud bass I managed to catch and release a small painted turtle. These video shorts may or may not make into later video montages so I might as well post them when they are created and milk an extra post on the fishing blogilicious.

After so many years of fishing and coming across turtles I am starting to think that these creatures find me for some reason. Respecting nature means respecting all of nature, even turtles.

The sound was lost somewhere in the editing process. Maybe its time to update my ancient movie making software. Thanks for watching. Good luck and good fishing.

Matt, Cool video. The Painted Turtles in CO get a little bigger than they do here in TN, which probably helps them survive the winters. The Painted here average much smaller, but we have Sliders, Cooters, and Map Turtles too. The southeast U.S. is one of the world's hotspots for turtle biodiversity. I'm sort of a herpetologist... I say "sort of" because I'm not employed in that capacity at the moment. I'll probably do a post on turtles myself soon, so be on the lookout for it.

I catch them all the time when fishing for carp with corn! Sometimes they come back for seconds. Cool vid.

Good video the turtle was not camera sly. You did a good job of filming the segment. Have you seen the Spy Glasses on Ebay? Do you know anything about them? I am thinking about giving one a try, because most of the time when I try to film with my camera it turns out shaky.

Great video and a beautiful specimen! This is what originally brought me to your blog. We are on our own Great Colorado Turtle Expedition and looking for places to find them.
