Mattsabasser action figure…just in time for Christmas!

Mattsabasser action figure…just in time for Christmas!

Of course this is a shameless spoof commercial at best and the current quantity of said action figure is currently…one. Honestly it was so much time putting together the action figure, the hoodie, making the rod and reel (yes, I really made that from scratch) and then shooting all of the various segments that I hope folks appreciate the pure creativity more than a 100% polished final product.

My name is Matt and I now have my own action figure.

These must be very popular. I tried to purchase one a Christmas Gift for the Angler in my life and they were all sold out. :-D

This is OBVIOUSLY the "must have" on EVERYONE'S Christmas list. It certainly is the ONLY thing I want!!! :) Now, step up your production rates so that they can start flying off shelves all across the country in the next 48 hours...
PS - You're silly! :)

That's actually pretty cool. Good work.

I need one of me now. Although, it would probably just look like Jackie Chan with a fishing pole.

That's how it's done boy's and girls. Nice work... cause that kind of creativity takes a fair amount of time and effort. Hope to see more of it the Mattsabasser Action Figure! Keep chasing the dream!

Once again I am overwhelmed by the positive support. If this is something you feel like re-posting on your blog or other venue with a link back to my blog…by all means please do. I spend so much time focusing on the content that I rarely promote myself and can use all of the help I can get.

Thanks again folks…you have no idea how much your comments mean to me.

Sorry for the additional edit folks. I had to add the image for more visual impact in the reader dealio.

Once again I really appreciate the positive feedback on some of these off the wall projects.

Now that is something all of us fishing nuts should have! If we had more of the different fishing bloggers with one of their own, they probably would become collection items. And, it all started with the Mattabasser action figure!

Thanks, Mel! I am working on the accessories as well. Sage Fly Rod and three thousand dollars worth of Orvis gear...sold separately!!!

Very cool.
A lot of work went into the production no doubt.
The last second was the best.
Great work!

I'll take three! It practically sells itself, but that's an awesome commercial. Now can we get a catchy jingle?

Thanks, sis. I always enjoy your comments. This blog was started from your inspiration. Now let’s talk a little bit about how I had to make this thing.

The original action figure and base for my design was a Bruce Willis-Die Hard action figure dug up at a local hobby store. The hoodie, the rod\reel, the hat, sunglasses and even the boots had to be made by hand.

The reel is a bolt that was filed down and some wire wrapped around it. Thread looked better than fishing line so I went with a more braided look. Smaller wire was added fro the eyelets and a nymph fly patter was thrown on as a last touch. (I should have tried to make a mini-crankbait or something like that).

Filming was a bit complicated as the sound on the first run through was terrible and inconsistent. I was forced to film with no sound and then later dub in the dialogue with the voice recorder. Lots of edits and splices to make this all come together.

My brain comes up with some crazy stuff and I hope to incorporate more of this into my blog as we roll into 2011. Love the feedback!!!

Freakin hilarious! I got a grandson that would love one. I now know what you do with all your free time when you can't fish. Keep em coming.
